Strix shipping update

Good news everyone, we are ready to start printing labels! Everything except for the Futuron Forge is ready (see 2nd paragraph). We know this is a bummer, but we've decided to move ahead with shipping anyway and will ship the Futuron Forge when it is ready. Read more below on how this will affect your order if you are waiting on a Futuron Forge skelly.

First, We would like to give the most sincere thank you to all of you for participating in the pre-order. The production runs of the Strix would not be possible without you. We are just one maker and his wife in a very small shop. The overhead cost of doing a huge run like this is way beyond our financial reach, so without those of you willing to participate it would not even be an idea that could have been on the table. Not just us, the other small makers who do this kind of thing occasionally, but the entire EDC community is in debt to your patience, trust, and willingness to participate. Because of you, great unique designs that would never have seen the light of day are able to be brought to this community. Those designs also inspire the large companies to innovate as well. The modest amount of money we small makers make doing this allows us to invest in new tools and materials so we can grow as well. I have always and will forever see the EDC community: collectors, makers, and the large companies, as a unique group of friends that inspire, teach, and trust each other with a “community over competition outlook.“ For this reason I would like to encourage you to continue to participate in preorders for makers that you would like to support, especially the newer up and coming ones. We aways do.  

What’s up with the Futuron forge?

Unfortunately the Futuron forge is delayed by another couple of weeks. The delay is because of a misunderstanding in the material’s dimensional requirements which caused the factory to have to do a lot of extra work. We understand this delay is incredibly frustrating, therefore we are offering anyone who ordered a Futuron forge DLC Skelly the option to continue waiting or have that item refunded. If you would like to continue to wait for the Futuron Forge, you do not need to do anything and we will process your order when it is ready. If you ordered multiple knives including a Futuron forge DLC Skelly we will ship your partial order now and the Futuron Forge one in a few weeks when they are ready. If you would like a refund for the Futuron Forge DLC Skelly please email us at info@sparrowknifeco.com and we will get you straightened out.  

Friendly reminder about your tracking number

Remember this is a huge order. It is going to take us a significant amount of time to organize, pack, and ship them all. We need to print the labels in order to organize them. When we hit print on your order you may get an automated email that says “your order has shipped” and provide you with your tracking number. That does not mean that your order physically shipped on that day! UPS will come and pick up all the packages at the same time once all orders are packed. I will make a post on Facebook and Instagram when that happens, even then sometimes tracking numbers do not show movement for a couple of days after they are picked up.  

In closing

I’d like to give an extra thank you for your patience, and understanding with the delay. This run of the Strix is a global effort; design and steel from the US, Damascus from the Czech Republic using steel from the US, Swedish Damascus, carbon fiber from Lithuania, micarta from the US, and titanium from multiple countries. With a supply chain this complex, sometimes things happen outside of our control—but we feel the end result is worth it. We don’t take for granted the trust you’ve placed in us. Thank you for sticking with us and supporting small makers. We can’t wait for you to enjoy your Strix!
